The following list is based on scientific research on products rich in fructose and other substances whose transformation may increase the concentration of fructose in the body.

Who is the low-fructose product list intended for?

The list is intended for people who have been diagnosed with fructose malabsorption through a breath test. Fructose intolerance manifests itself, among others, with abdominal pain, bloating and diarrhea after consuming this ingredient.

To make it easier to follow the diet, we have created a list of such products, which may change over the coming months and years depending on new scientific reports.

Weight of the product - diet for fructose intolerance

Some products are allowed in limited quantities and are marked in yellow in the table. The measurement written next to the product indicates the maximum amount that can be eaten in one portion. The next portion can be eaten after 3-4 hours.

Read product compositions!

Some food additives are poorly absorbed in the small intestine. As a consequence of malabsorption, they can pass into the large intestine, where they will be fermented by microorganisms. In people with fructose intolerance, this can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea and bloating. Beware of the following substances:

  • sorbitol,

  • lactitol,

  • maltitol,

  • isomalt,

  • mannitol.

It is also important to avoid high-fructose corn syrup, also known as corn syrup, which is a rich source of fructose. It is found in carbonated drinks, sweets and juices.

I am a clinical dietitian, after completing my master's degree in dietetics at the Medical University of Wroclaw.

I specialize in managing patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and SIBO, using the knowledge of the principles and procedures of a low FODMAP diet.

In 2019, I completed a dietary research internship in the United States and completed the "Complete Guide to the Low FODMAP Diet" course.

My approach to diet therapy is holistic - during our visit I will tell you how to take care of your mental health while following the low FODMAP diet and what to pay attention to first of all.
